Position Management overview
Position Management shows your company's hierarchy, open positions, and the people who hold them. It also keeps employee job data synchronized with the Company Structure page.
HR Admins and managers with access to Company Structure in Salesforce. Some actions require Position Management or Position-Job Management permissions.
What you can do
- Manage positions — add current or future positions, preserve the history of previous holders, and define reporting relationships.
- Assign employees — create primary or secondary Employment Terms and track full-time equivalent (FTE) values.
- Connect recruiting — associate open jobs with positions and follow vacancies.
- Schedule changes — update current Employment Terms or add future ones.
Where it happens
Use Company Structure in the flair HR app in Salesforce to manage positions, dates, and reporting relationships. The Employment Terms section on an employee record shows previous, current, and future positions.
Position Management controls Job Title, Start Date, End Date, and Manager on employee records. Direct changes to those employee fields and scheduled data changes are blocked. Changes from Company Structure synchronize back to the employee record.
For employees with several Employment Terms, the contract Start Date uses the earliest start date, and End Date uses the latest end date. If the most recent term has no end date, End Date stays empty. Position uses the most recent position, and Manager uses the person in its Parent Position.
