Minimum Rest Periods

Admins can require a minimum rest period before an employee is allowed to clock in again, helping companies stay compliant with working-time regulations that mandate rest between shifts.

Configuring a Minimum Rest Period

Minimum rest periods are configured per Time Framework in Salesforce:

  1. Open HR Admin and navigate to Time Frameworks.
  2. Open the Time Framework you want to configure.
  3. Under Minimum Rest Period, set one or both of:
    • A minimum number of continuous rest hours required since the employee's last clock-out (e.g. 11 hours).
    • A longer continuous break required within a rolling window (e.g. at least 36 continuous hours within a 7-day window, or 48 hours within 14 days).
  4. Save the Time Framework.

Employees assigned to this Time Framework are now subject to the configured rest period rules.

What Employees See

If an employee tries to clock in before their required rest period has elapsed, the clock-in is blocked and they're shown how much more rest is required before they can clock in again.

Additional clock-ins later the same day aren't affected by the rule, and manually added time entries continue to be reviewed by HR as before.

Rest period messaging is available in English, German, and French.
