Compensation Management
Compensation Management lets HR admins build a structured pay framework using Pay Groups, Pay Grades, and Pay Levels — and link it directly to Career Levels and Positions in your org hierarchy. Once connected, pay configurations propagate automatically so you never need to update each Position manually.
Access Requirements
Assign one of these permission sets to grant access:
- Flair Compensation Management — full read and edit access
- Flair Compensation Management Read — read-only access
Accessing Compensation Management
- Open the flair HR app in Salesforce.
- Navigate to the Compensation Management tab.
Building Your Pay Structure
Compensation Management is organized in three levels:
Pay Group → Pay Grade → Pay Level
Start at the top and work down.
Pay Groups
Pay Groups are the top-level containers — typically representing a pay programme or employee category (for example, "Full-time Staff" or "Part-time").
- In the Compensation Management tab, click New Pay Group.
- Enter a name and save.
Pay Grades
Pay Grades are bands or tiers within a Pay Group (for example: Junior, Mid, Senior, Lead).
- Open a Pay Group.
- Click New Pay Grade.
- Enter a name and save.
Pay Levels
Pay Levels are sub-tiers within a Pay Grade — useful for modelling salary steps or ranges within a band.
- Open a Pay Grade.
- Click New Pay Level.
- Enter a name and save.
Linking Pay Configurations to Career Levels
After setting up your pay structure, connect it to your org's Career Levels so that Positions inherit the correct pay configuration automatically.
- Navigate to Career Levels in the flair HR app.
- On the Career Levels table, set the Pay Grade or Pay Level for each level inline — or open a Career Level record and edit it there.
Automatic Propagation to Positions
When you assign a pay configuration to a Career Level, all Positions linked through that Career Level's Role inherit the configuration automatically:
Employment → Position → Role → Career Level → Pay Configuration
Changes to a Career Level's Pay Configuration, a Role's Career Level, or a Position's Role propagate to affected Positions automatically. Positions with no role-controlled value remain manually editable.
You can still override the pay configuration on individual Positions that fall outside the standard hierarchy — for example, contractor roles with unique pay structures.
